According to a story on CBS News, the House Minority Leader objected to the expansion of a House Bill to include sexual orientation. The current law already includes class protections for national origin, race, religion, and color.
According to Boehner’s spokesman, Kevin Smith, “He does not support adding sexual orientation to the list of protected classes.”
It would seem that the Minority Leader believes we choose to be gay or straight but are born Jewish/Baptist/Morman/Wiccan. Because as we all know, it’s way easier living in this world as “a gay”, so clearly we all chose to be gay. Ok, sarcasm aside, how can he justify such an illogical position? Or perhaps he simply doesn’t want his own hate to be covered by this law.

Belinda Carlisle, the 80’s pop icon from the Go-Go’s and a solo career, posted a video supporting her gay son, and marriage equality in Maine (Vote No on 1 in Maine).
I remember back in the day, thinking her song “Heaven Is A Place On Earth” was “Blue Heaven is a place on Earth”. Please donate to the “No on 1” campaign in Maine and let’s make it a “Blue Heaven” here on Earth where anyone can marry the person they love.

No, that’s not where I’m going, unfortunately. But I can dream, can’t I? Actually the hubby and I are heading up to the water-logged northwest for a few days of rest and relaxation. I’m leaving Inside, Looking Out in the capable hands of my best pal Joe who’ll be filling in during my absence. So fellow travelers, please drop by and make him feel at home. Until next week…

Lost in all the hubbub last week about the National Equality March, Judy Shepard appeared on Ellen to talk about her son Matthew, how her life has changed and how far we’ve come. Unfortunately we still have a long way to go. Be sure to watch all the way to the end…
