GOP leadership forces Rep. Joe Wilson to call White House and apologize

politics, video 1 Comment »

Rep. Joe WilsonThe now infamous Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina who shouted “You lie!” at the President while he was giving an address to a joint session of Congress yesterday, was forced to call the White House and apologize.

Left to his own devices, its unclear how long it would have taken for this southern, Confederate flag loving, former aid to late Senator Strom Thurmond, to make the call. But probably sooner than later, considering the $200K Wilson’s 2010 opponent Rob Miller has raised since the outburst last night. A failure to apologize might have been political suicide.

President Obama of course has since graciously accepted the apology.

By the way… it was nice to see the man I voted for last November finally show up in Washington. I hope he sticks around for a while.

NOM endorsed candidate loses in Iowa

Iowa NOM lossEven after the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) poured nearly $90,000 into his campaign, Republican candidate Stephen Burgmeier still managed to lose in a close race to Democrat Curt Hanson in a special election for an Iowa house seat yesterday.

Democratic candidate Curt Hanson, a retired schoolteacher, won against GOP candidate and Jefferson County Supervisor Stephen Burgmeier by 3,932 to 3,825 votes, according to unofficial tallies.

“We predicted it would be a close race and it was,” Hanson said of his 107-vote victory. “I think what surprised me was the total state attention and, perhaps, even national.”

Republicans acknowledge the loss was unsettling, but said the closeness of the race means that their future is bright and that they will gain ground in next year’s House, Senate and gubernatorial races.

Too bad for NOM. Now they have less money to launder up in Maine… The hits just keep on coming.

Barney Frank: “I don’t think they have ever confused me with an English butler from an old movie on Public TV”

Rep. Barney FrankRep. Barney Frank (D-MA) of course was referring to his own supporters as he defended statements made last week at a townhall meeting where he accused an out-of-state LaRouche supporter of being like a dining room table. But only after the townhall crasher had attempted to draw parallels between Obama and Hitler. Watch:

Don’t worry Barney. No one would ever confuse your lovable curmudgeon self with Mr. Belvedere or Alfred Pennyworth or Giles French. Yes I know they weren’t on PBS but you get the idea. Just stay as you are Barney, stay as you are.

And for some context… the original exchange between Rep. Frank and “woman from another planet.”

The Birthers’ next target? The President’s foreskin or lack thereof?

Birthers' next target...No. Seriously. Follow the thread below from Birther bastion, FreeRepublic.com:

hoosiermama:
The only other thing that hit me was that Sinclair said BO was not circumcised. When my son was born in a hospital that was done as a matter of routine without even consulting us. Would the same be for Hawaii? OTOH People born at home or in some other cultures are not circumcised.

thecodont:
A relative of mine was born (in a hospital) a couple of years after BO’s alleged birth date. He was circumcised also (as a matter of routine, not according to any family request).

afraidfortherepublic:
My son was born in June of 1961 in a hospital in CA, and the nurses released us because of miscommunication in a day and a half before the circumcision was done. We had to go back to the doctor’s office to have it done a week later, and the doctor was NOT HAPPY. My second son was born in the same hospital 4 years later. I don’t remember them asking me about it. Routine procedure for little boys.

hoosiermama:
Wish we had someone to make a phone call to the hospitols in HI and ask if they routinely do circumcism and when that practice started.

MHGinTN:
You might want to make that call to a Canadian hospital …

MHGinTN:
No…it would have been in Kenya….not Canada.

I am having a vision of a court room scene. The judge turns to O sitting in the witness chair to his left and says “I am sorry, Mr. President, but I am going to have to ask you to stand and drop trou …..”

hoosiermama:
More than likely an exam from a court appointed DR. :~)
Humiliating either way….caught by his own private parts….er something like that.

Oh. How the mind reels. Thanks to Jesus General for making the trip to Birtherville so the rest of us don’t have to.
