From the lion’s den: MSNBC reporter harassed at Value Voters Summit

MSNBC report at Values Voter Summit 2009More from the Value Voters Summit 2009: MSNBC reporter Brian Mooar tried to hold down the fort in the face of heckling by attendees at the Values Voters Summit. Good TV.

Yeah… maybe he was little disruptive. But that’s where the organizers put Mooar to broadcast. And that’s where he stayed. Unlike a Fox News broadcaster… which got some love from attendees as well.

Olbermann: Dr. George Tiller’s murder facilitated by Fox News, O’Reilly Factor

Bill O'ReillyKeith Olbermann ended Countdown last night with a call to “quarantine” Fox News for facilitating domestic terrorism and creating a climate which made the assassination of abortion doctor George Tiller possible. Watch:

It’s been interesting to watch the reaction of the Pro-life movement to Tiller’s murder. While the act has been widely and appropriately condemned, many have gone as far as to say Tiller deserved it, “reaping what he sowed.” I’d classify most of these individuals as cowards who don’t have the courage of their convictions to commit the heinous act themselves, but were more than happy to let someone else do the dirty work. And those who aren’t cowards simply need a nudge, only too happily provided by Fox News and talk radio, etc., to push them over the edge…

Back to the quarantine. My current gym shows Fox News on one of its LCD televisions, and I’m constantly having to avert my eyes lest be put in a sour mood… (yes, seriously). We’ve asked them once to change the channel but they refused. Perhaps it’s time to ask again and be prepared to find another gym.

Update:
Rachel Maddow ran a segment on her show this evening discussing individuals such as the ones I mentioned above, who are celebrating the death of Dr. Tiller. Watch:

Glenn Beck equates Obama’s policies to setting people on fire

media, politics, video No Comments »

In an absurd and frightening piece a theater yesterday Glenn Beck pretended to douse gasoline on one of his guests and then lit a match, equating it to Obama setting us on fire because of his liberal policies.

If this isn’t shouting “fire” in a theater crowded with people who believe their guns are going to be taken away, they’re jobs stolen by “foreign devils,” and that the country is being marched down the road to fascism, I don’t know what is.

Jasmyne Cannick… Fox News favorite black lesbian?

Jasmyne Cannick was on Fox News… again. How many times has she been on since Prop 8 passed? Has she appeared on any of the other networks? Doesn’t she realize she is being used? Fox News has never cared about civil rights or the black community, because it’s viewers don’t. Fox News is hardly a big tent network, and they are using her to drive a larger and more destructive wedge between gays and blacks. You know Fox News fans are eating it up. Here’s the clip.

And here is the LA Times Op Ed mentioned in the clip.
