Miss California’s the Rock Church links “pedophilia to gay lifestyle”

rockchurchThe Rock Church of San Diego, which counts Carrie Prejean—also known as Miss California—as one of its members, is using discredited sources and junk science to link homosexuality with pedophilia.

The Rock Church founded and pastored by former San Diego Charger Miles McPherson, established the linkage in a sermon about Sodom and Gomorrah back in 2004.

Consequences of a Homosexual Lifestyle

God’s Word tells us differently and He provides us of the evidence that homosexuality is not natural or normal. There are physiological repercussions from homosexual behavior; male homosexuals are 430 times more likely to contract HIV than a heterosexual, while heterosexuals have a 1-in-750,000 chance of contracting the virus responsible for HIV, a male homosexual has a 1-in-165 chance of getting HIV. A 20 year old gay male has a 30% chance of either dying or contracting AIDS before the age of 30. They are also 23 times more likely to get other sexually transmitted diseases than a heterosexual.

There are also moral repercussions stemming from homosexual behavior as evidenced by the fact that one third of all sexual crimes against children are committed by homosexuals even though they are representative of only one percent of the population. Pedophilia has even been called central to the gay lifestyle. The agenda of the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) is to lower the age of consent so that sex with children will be legal.

Emotionally people suffer from homosexuality. Gays are five times more likely to commit suicide than a straight person. They are suffering depression because of God’s judgment and their alienation from Him. So God not only tells us what is right and wrong but that by continually doing what is wrong there will be consequences and this is all evident to us so we have no excuse in suppressing the truth.

The outrageous claim that 1/3 of all sexual crimes are committed by homosexuals comes from Paul Cameron, a discredited researcher known for distorting other people’s  research to further his own anti-gay agenda. Cameron is also founder of the Family Research Institute which is listed as a hate group by Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

A video of the sermon is available below, and is a huge treasure trove of the typical anti-gay and intelligent design pablum.

Not surprisingly, the Rock Church and McPherson were active and vocal supporters of Proposition 8 last November. Watch McPherson deliver a sermon on Prop 8 in the video below. I wonder if Prejean is somewhere in the audience…

McPherson was also a part of a Protect Marriage Simulcast targeting church leaders, young people, and congregations in the run up to the election, which was sponsored by none other than ProtectMarriage.com

It’s clear now that much of the blame for Carrie Prejean’s infamous answer at the Miss USA pageant falls squarely at the feet of Pastor Miles McPherson and the Rock Church of San Diego Church.

VIDEO: California Supreme Court holds hearings on validity of Proposition 8

Today the California Supreme Court heard oral arguments on whether to uphold or strike down Proposition 8. As the hearings wore on it became increasing clear the court seems pre-disposed to letting Prop 8 stand, averse to going against the will of the people, no matter how egregious.

While in general valiantly argued, the case brought forward by AG Jerry Brown’s associate, Christopher Krueger, Senior Assistant AG, didn’t do the LGBT community any favors. Krueger seemed ill-prepared, and his arguments based on cases dating back to the 1800s and the concept of “natural law” didn’t impress the judges. At one point one judge tried to withdraw a question due a muddled answer. It seemed to dilute the arguments to overturn Prop 8 up to that point.

Below are couple of highlights from the hearings…

In this instance Ken Starr is asserting that the will of the voters should hold even when stripping away rights, provided they are well-informed and know what they are voting on. But unfortunately this wasn’t the case. A well-organized misinformation campaign orchestrated by the proponents of Prop 8, duped voters into believing gay marriage would be taught in schools, that it would harm their children and families, and make religious institutions vulnerable to lawsuits. All categorically untrue. In the end we had an electorate, many misinformed and misled, strip away the civil rights of a protected minority.

The court however appears reluctant to invalidate the existing 18,000 same-sex marriages as evidenced below.

It’s interesting that Ken Starr makes a point that Prop 8 doesn’t invalidate the marriages, he simply believes that they are made unrecognized and invalid.

Sorry but, WTF is the difference? Associate Justice Carol Corrigan response at the close of the clip is dead on.

The court will rule in 90 days or less. Regardless of the outcome, we should take to the streets, wether in victory, or take demand our civil rights.

Heartbreaking video rejects Ken Starr’s case to invalidate 18K gay marriages

The Courage Campaign has released a moving new video called “Fidelity”, asking the California Supreme Court not to divorce the 18,000 same-sex couples who were married before the passage of Proposition 8. Leading the effort to invalidate those marriages is Pepperdine University’s Ken Starr. Yes, the same Ken Starr whose investigation eventually led to the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.

Visit the Courage Campaign and send a message to the California Supreme Court asking them to invalidate Prop 8 and reject Ken Starr’s case.

Hope Train derailed: Homophobe Pastor Rick Warren to give invocation at inauguration

President-Elect Obama has unfortunately chosen Pastor Rick Warren of the Saddleback Church to give the invocation at the inauguration in January.

Pastor Warren is a rare gem of a human being/Christian. He has compared abortion to the Jewish Holocaust, equated gay marriage to incest and pedophilia, and previously cut a video in support of Proposition 8. See below:

I struggle desperately not to be a one issue voter, but like so many in the LGBT community, I am deeply disappointed by this choice, and at the expense of all the positives I have witnessed in the presidential transition thus far.

In what can only be called a calculated effort to reach across the aisle and placate the religious right, Obama has succeeded only in alienating some of his most fervent supporters, who have remained steadfast despite missing the “Hope Train” when Proposition 8 passed last month. Frankly, my wallet is still aching from all the contributions we made to the Obama campaign as well.

Unfortunately this isn’t the first time Obama has stepped in it. I gave Obama the benefit of the doubt the first time around, but don’t know if I can now. Not since Prop 8.

I’m sure many will argue that Barack Obama personally doesn’t support gay marriage in the first place, but nor does he think it’s appropriate to write discrimination into law. Constitutions enable rights, not redact them.

If it’s any consolation, there are some on the right who aren’t too happy with Pastor Warren either. Let them give him as much grief as we give Obama.

I’m reminded of a line from the Song “Down to Earth” by Peter Gabriel as I write this.

Do you feel you were tricked, by the future you picked?

The answer’s not yes. At least not yet.
